Terms & Conditions
FOUNDATION K9 TERMS & CONDITIONS
1. Progress, Homework & Communication
Dog training only works if the work is done outside the session(s). Clients are expected to complete the homework set, practise regularly, and send video updates when asked.
If homework isn’t done or updates aren’t provided, progress will be limited — that’s just the reality of training.
I aim to see clients every 2 weeks to keep momentum. Holding sessions back or trying trying to stretch a block over several months is at my discretion only.
2. Trainer Check-Ins
I will check in between sessions to support your progress, answer questions, and help you stay on track. These check-ins are part of the service, not pressure — they’re there to keep the momentum going so you and your dog get the best results possible.
Clients are expected to engage with check-ins within reason (e.g., a quick reply or update when asked).
If repeated check-ins go unanswered, this may limit progress and affect how far we can get in your block of sessions.
3. Training Approach & Feedback
I give clear, honest feedback during and between sessions. It’s never personal — it’s about getting real results for you and your dog.
Training works best when clients are open to guidance and willing to make changes at home. If advice is repeatedly ignored, there’s only so far we can go, and I may discontinue sessions if it isn’t fair on the dog.
4. No Guarantee of Results
Every dog is different and training outcomes depend on many factors outside the trainer’s control, including the dog’s history, temperament, home environment, and the client’s consistency. For this reason, specific results cannot be guaranteed.
I do not promise that a dog will never show unwanted behaviour again, that issues will be fully resolved within a set number of sessions, or that results will last indefinitely. Behaviour is fluid, and progress requires ongoing work outside of sessions.
What I can guarantee is a clear plan, honest feedback, and support throughout the training process. Many dogs make significant improvements within a few sessions, but some cases naturally take longer and may require additional blocks of training.
5. Photos, Videos & Media Use
I take photos and videos during sessions to help coach you and track progress.
These may also be used on Foundation K9 social media, the website, and marketing materials unless you request otherwise in writing.
Client-submitted videos and text conversations may also be used in the same way. Your personal information will always be obscured.
If you prefer not to appear in public content, just let me know — no issue at all.
6. Bookings & Payments
All sessions and block bookings must be paid for upfront to secure your place.
Block bookings must be used within a timeframe that keeps training effective. As a guideline, this is around 4 weeks per 2 sessions (for example: 3–4 sessions within 6–8 weeks; 5 sessions within 10–12 weeks). Any extension is at the trainer’s discretion.
Sessions are for the dog named at the time of booking and are non-transferable.
Foundation K9 reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions at any time, with changes taking immediate effect.
7. Cancellations & Rescheduling
Less than 48 hours’ notice = the session is lost and non-refundable. The same applies to attempts to reschedule within 48 hours of a booked session.
Sessions will run in most weather. “Poor weather” is not a valid reason to cancel. Extremely hot or cold days may require rescheduling, but this decision rests with the trainer only for safety reasons.
If I need to cancel for any reason, your session will be rescheduled at no cost.
8. Dog Behaviour, Safety & Equipment
You must inform me of any dietary, medical, or behavioural issues (including allergies, sensitivities, aggression, reactivity, resource guarding, or previous bites) before training begins.
You’re responsible for keeping your dog safe, secure, and under control during our sessions. Suitable equipment must be used as advised.
I reserve the right to end or refuse a session if the dog’s welfare, safety, or behaviour makes it unsuitable to continue.
9. Liability
9.1 Client Responsibility
You are responsible for your dog’s behaviour, welfare, and safety at all times during our sessions. This includes following the handling guidance provided, using suitable equipment, and maintaining control of your dog unless instructed otherwise.
You agree to engage fully with the training process by attending scheduled sessions, completing the work set, and providing updates or footage when requested. Lack of engagement will limit progress and may result in training being ended early.
9.2 Dog Health & Fitness
Your dog must be fit, healthy, and free from contagious conditions or parasites (including fleas, worms, and kennel cough) when attending sessions. Please do not bring your dog if they are unwell, injured, in season, or showing signs of illness.
If I believe a dog is not well enough to train safely, I may end or postpone the session.
9.3 Disclosure of Behavioural Risks
You must inform me of any behavioural concerns — especially aggression, reactivity, guarding behaviour, bite incidents, or any risk that your dog may injure a person or another dog. There is no judgement, but I need accurate information to work safely.
Failure to disclose relevant behavioural or medical history may result in the immediate end of training without refund.
9.4 Environmental Risk Acceptance
Training may take place in parks, fields, footpaths, or other outdoor areas. These environments naturally contain uneven ground, holes, mud, water, vegetation, equipment, wildlife, and other hazards.
By taking part, you accept these risks and agree to take reasonable care for your own safety and that of your dog. Foundation K9 is not responsible for injuries arising from normal environmental hazards.
9.5 Liability
Dog training involves physical activity for both the dog and handler, and there is always some level of risk. While I take all reasonable precautions, you and your dog attend sessions at your own risk.
Foundation K9 is not liable for:
injuries or damage caused by your dog to any person, animal, or property
injuries your dog sustains as a result of their own behaviour or environmental hazards
behavioural relapse or the development of new behaviours after training
outcomes that depend on factors outside my control, including client consistency and home management
You accept full responsibility for your dog’s actions at all times.
9.6 Trainer Discretion
I may end a session or discontinue training entirely if your dog poses a safety risk, if the working relationship breaks down, or if ongoing advice is not being followed. Sessions already delivered are not refundable.
10. Refunds
Block bookings are discounted and non-refundable once training has started.
Refunds will not be issued if a client chooses not to continue after the block has begun, including situations where only one session has been used.
Missed sessions (including cancellations with under 48 hours’ notice) are non-refundable.
If I need to cancel the remaining sessions in a block, I will refund the unused portion.
11. Trainer Discretion
I may end a session early or reschedule if the dog is unwell, overly stressed, or conditions are unsafe.
I may discontinue working with a client if advice isn’t followed or the dog’s welfare is at risk.
